6th Grade Science Learning Method of Observation

Recently, in Suzy Talley’s 6th Grade Science class, students used a fun approach to learn the importance of paying attention to detail and observation. Mrs. Talley instructed the students to choose a toy that was placed on a table. Students were then asked to observe the object, draw the object and label what they saw.

Observation is essential in science. Scientists use observation to collect and record data, which enables them to develop and then test hypotheses and theories. Scientists observe in many ways – with their senses or with tools that allow for more precise and accurate observations.
